Alexander Skarsgard, is wooing America. Having lived in Los Angeles for 5 years now, after moving from his homeland of Stockholm, Sweden, Alexander is taking America by storm. Many of us were introduced to Alexander as “Eric Northman” on HBO’s series “True Blood,” which is in its second season.
And if you watch him closely enough, you’ll see how he eases through each scene effortlessly, yet effectively. He embodies the dark eroticism and just raw sexuality that the disturbing theme song promises in the open credits. And if you are paying attention, you’ll notice too that he is gaining in popularity. Many fan sites such as the one I am promoting, Alexander Skarsgard’s FanBlog is rising. We have over 600 fans on our FaceBook and Twitter site (separately). I started both sites only months ago.
What makes the blonde, blue eyed Swede so hypnotic as a bad boy 1,000 year old viking vampire in a yet another vampire themed TV show? I suspect it’s his ability to act that sets him apart from the rest of the cast. His approach to his character, Eric Northman was to think of him as a lion in a sea of prey. And you can see it as he glides across the scene, sometimes literally. He’s one of the few actors who decided to read the “Sookie Stackhouse” series by Charlaine Harris that the “True Blood” characters are based on.
I noticed Alexander in 2008 when he played Sgt. Brad “Iceman” Colbert in the HBO Series, Generation Kill. The mini series is nominated for an Emmy this year. In only 7 episodes, I watched with nervously anticipation as Brad led the 1st Recon Marines during the first wave of the American-led assault on Baghdad in 2003.
From soldier to vampire, Alexander is now in True Blood, every episode this Second season. He’s quite excited to be hearing about a Season 3. He signed a contract for the first three seasons of the show.
Alexander makes the perfect modern vampire. He has the boy-next-door charm look, the majestic air of a royal prince you’d love to bow in front of, a somewhat faint accent that’s enchanting, and an intense stair that would make most women swoon, including this one. Yup, Alexander is wooing America with his ultimate bad boy persona on True Blood. As many of his fans are starting to realize, the second season has only a few episodes left before it ends. I’m already breathless wondering what I will do with my Sunday nights. But I have my eye on upcoming movie trailers to catch Alexander in the movie, ”Straw Dogs” in 2010?! Heavy sigh.
